Stylistic Influence- Broadchurch
The show Broadchurch is our group's main stylistic influence. This show has a dark setting, which suits the overall theme we are trying to replicate. The idea of a isolated, deserted beach is a threatening idea on its own. This moody loction will really emphasise the atmosphere we are trying to achieve in our piece. The desolate landscape adds to the feeling of isolation and adds to the idea of luring the audience into a false sense of security. This is something hard to create and having a good location goes a long way in trying to achieve this effect. Moreover the beach is quite an unsettling place for a thriller as it is bright, light and usually seen as a happy place for the family to visit for example; so by not conforming to this stereotype of the beach we are creating a false sense of security for the viewer and shocking them in a surprising way. The show Broadchurch also achieves this, and we find this very effective, so we would like to replicate this and make it our own.
